Venexiana Spring 2015 Runway Show Review

  • 0
The Pavilion at Lincoln Center right before the show. The lights and music were unreal and expertly done.
The Venexiana Spring 2015 collection would've knocked my socks off had I been wearing any. It explored different silhouettes, materials, colors and amounts of sequins, yet still remained extremely cohesive. Lately, I have been noticing that a lot of the time when sequins are used, a dress can get very tacky very quickly. Even with a ton of sequins, the Venexiana gowns remained timeless yet modern. For me personally, this collection was all about the back. Low cut backs, sheer paneling, interesting shapes, the back area of the gowns truly was the hidden treasure of the whole thing. Take a look below at some of my favorite backs, full looks and then the video of the finale!

What You Need to Know- Fall 2014 Trends

  • 0
Fall 2014 is all about contrast. Opposites. Dichotomies. Call them what you will, but the meaning behind the words stays the same. Trends this upcoming fall land on both sides of the spectrum in practically every way, on every field. Which will you choose?

Structured vs. Unstructured
Fitted vs. Flowy
Bright vs. Dark
Patterned vs. Monochromatic
Sporty vs. Feminine
Organic vs. Manufactured

The possibilities are endless this season, and the choices are up to you. Take a look at some of the major trends displayed below for Fall 2014.

Next Big Thing: Eleven Paris

Eleven Paris is an upcoming brand focused on an urban, sportswear, aesthetic. Nearly every piece has either hip graphics or unmissable pop culture references. A collaboration with Disney, (which can be found on their website for kids, for women and for men) was just released at a pop up shop at the Galeries Lafayette on May 14.

Top Right: Sundambijump W 59.00 Euros

I first discovered this brand whilst shopping in Paris, and I spent about an hour in the store freaking out about the insanely awesome graphics and how much I wanted everything. The same is still completely true, especially in the new Spring/Summer collection. I think what I love most about the designs is that they are insanely cool I'm both silhouette and graphics, yet most of the pieces are still fairly minimalistic. There is never too much going on with the graphics, and if the graphics are more involved, the silhouette is simpler. They have achieved the ultimate balance to create excellent garments with an intensely urban feel.

If you want to see more, check out their website!
Also, the Spring Summer look book, it has a whole story that goes along with each photo and it's one of the coolest ones I've seen in a long time.

Ruffian Spring 2014 Runway Show

I went to the Ruffian Spring 2014 runway show, and let me tell you, it knocked my socks off. I went into the show knowing nothing about the brand or their designs, and I ended up absolutely loving it!
If you want to see the designs closer up, go to the Ruffian website here.

The colors, occasional floral patterns and the high necklines gave the collection a very preppy feel, while the mini skirts, occasional leather and interesting fabrics gave it all the edginess it needed. Personally, I thought the collection was very relatable to my own age group, when you feel you have to decide between being preppier or edgier, between covering up or showing more skin. This collection gave a very good balance of both, and I could see myself wearing practically every piece shown.

My favorite piece was the black and white checkered cotton boucle dress towards the end. I thought the boxier silhouette was in perfect proportion with the short length and the thickness of the sleeves.

Venexiana Spring 2014 Show

This September I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Venexiana Spring 2014 fashion show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Unlike in February, I was able to get my own semi-decent photos this year of the gowns. I really loved the colors used this season, especially the mint and the fuchsia. The detailing and sequins on these gowns were exquisite, even though you can't see them well in my photos. That being said, I did think the show was a bit long, but I was also standing with my arms up trying to get good pictures so I might be biased on that topic. Overall, I really did love the gowns and I think at least a few will be showing up on the red carpets this season.
