WHO ARE THE MSFTS?

(urban dict. def) - Someone who is an outcast or doesn't fit in, and refuses to adjust to the normal life; someone who creates, inspires and disrupts

MSFTS is a clothing line designed by Jaden Smith, named after his group of friends. This little "clique" and brand has evolved into so much more. The MSFTS stand for everything a teenager is, and what their role is in society. MSFTS is about making what you want to happen happen, fighting for your dreams, and working for change if you don't life the way things are.

Missed You, Inspiration, Coachella, New Posts, Stassiebabeeyy, etc...

I missed you guys!! I know it's been a while, and yes, it is my fault. A combination of laziness and school testing took over my life. Anywayyyy, with the third marking period almost over in school I am getting so so inspired by the new warm weather and everything going on right now.

Lately, I have been really inspired by more boho/Cali grunge looks than my normal preppy/edgy sort of vibe. Keep in mind that when I say grunge I don't mean legitimate grunge, but more of an adaptation of California inspired carefree skater vibe clothes. And with Coachella starting in Palm Springs, I'm so ready to take in all that style and make it my own.

And speaking of Coachella, I am planning to watch for what I think are the best looks and then I'll do a cool post about that.

Also, I'm so psyched because I have a ton of great posts that I want to do. Guess taking a two week break really gives you a chance to get more ideas!!

Finally, I need to do an honorable mention to my new idol. Her full name is Anastasia Karanikolao but her friends all call her Stas. She is gorgeous. STUNNING. And from keeks of Kylie Jenner's that I have watched, she seems amazingly nice as well. Oh yeah, and she's friends with Kylie Jenner. So yeah, nothing more to say about that. Just look at her. :O That is my face every time.

Like OMG. Woah. #CanIPleaseBeHer?

Fashion and Eating Disorders

   In the fall, I had an school assignment in which I had to choose a controversial topic and write a long essay on the topic. As I am very passionate about fashion, and increasingly worried about it's negative effects, I chose to write about the connection between fashion and girl's self image. Namely, the effects of fashion on self esteem, eating disorders as well as negative body image.
   Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, recently made a speech at Harvard University about the same issue. She posted the speech in its entirety on her blog for Vogue Italia. Look at it if you have the chance.
    I must applaud that someone so closely tied into the fashion industry would make a speech as accusing as it is towards the industry itself. However, to raise awareness, something had to be done, and Sozzani's speech was the perfect start. I truly hope that more designers and runway show coordinators will start to take extreme thinness into consideration while casting model for their shows.
   If there is any interest, I can post my essay for people to find out more about such a terrible negative effect of the fashion industry (and, may I add, not only the fashion industry).
