Designer Collaborations: In The Public Eye

     All the collaborations announced recently have gotten me thinking about how collaborations are seen in the public eye. While they are normally celebrated, there are some reasons to be skeptical that are normally not discussed.
    Designers collaborating with department stores allows the general population to enjoy buying and owning a designer label. The problem with that idea is that people will buy anything in the collection just to say they have an item by that designer. I, for one, have been a victim of that thinking many times, and I have a few worn-once shirts that prove it. All I'm saying is, before buying an item from a collaboration, think about how and where you will wear it, or if you are just buying it for the label. If you are, don't buy it and save some money for something you really want.
